Music- Always cuts on beat.
Lyrics- Images illustrate the literal meaning or feeling of the lyrics, often just with the band singing and dancing.
Band Image- Dancing and dressed as would be expected.
Amplification:
Music- Film cuts on the beat but also off beat to emphasise features.
Lyrics- Images emphasise the lyrics, a specific narrative may be used that may not necessarily be picked up by reading the lyrics alone (deeper meanings).
Band Image- The band take on fictional roles in the narrative.
Disjuncture:
Music- Film cuts off the beat. (Sometimes the sign of a badly made video.)
Lyrics- Images which do not relate to the lyrics are used, sometimes used by bands that are already well established that can afford to take the risk.
Band Image- The band take on an image that is nothing like the expected image.
